March is Literacy Month

Pyali School, India – During his visit to India, Saurabh stopped by the school and visited with Sathi Das, the student that our club is sponsoring. He also visited an Interact Club and some other things. He can tell us about it when he gets home.

Last Week – Paula Boswell, Author of No Ordinary Life: The True Story of a Dutch Girl and an American Marine, spoke to the club about her late husband’s experience in Japanese POW camps in WW II. She and her husband founded Boswell’s Party Stores.

Last Wednesday – The Fellowship/Social at the “Hideaway” was well attended, we pretty much took over the place for about 1&1/2 hours.

Last Friday – Burger flipping for CASA at St Joan of Arc. Attendees can tell us about it.

RI Birthday Foundation Matching – Foundation Chair Gary Vihauer reports that 7 members took advantage of the double matching opportunity on  February 23. The club will continue to match donations up to $200. It would be great if every member would participate in Foundation giving every year at some level, the amount is secondary.

Can you help? – The Alamo club, who has been a huge contributor to the success of the new “Rotacare” free clinic in Pittsburg, has asked our club to see if there is someone who would be willing to donate a couple of hours a week to do simple data entry. If you can help, please let Pres Tony know.

District Assembly April 16 in Vallejo – Pres Elect Bob encourages club leaders, new members, and any other interested in knowing more about the larger Rotary organization to save the date and attend. Free to all. Details to follow.
