December is Family Month in Rotary
Today December 6 – A big Danville WELCOME to Eric Adcock, Interact President at Monte Vista HS and one of 1,700 Interactors in 55 Interact clubs in our district who raised $50,000 for PACE Universal, a girl’s school in India, last year. Eric will talk to us today about PACE.
Sathi Das is Danville Rotary’s student at the Pyali India girl’s school
Sathi Das, currently a 1st grader, was enrolled in Kindergarten in the academic year 2009-2010. She is six and her birthday is February 16. She is a happy and smart kid, very good in studies and attends school regularly. Sathi ranked third in her grade in the last annual assessment. She is fond of drawing and coloring and is popular amongst her friends. She participates enthusiastically in school activities and cultural programs.
Her parents show a lot of involvement toward their daughter’s education. Being only functionally literate, they are keen to give their daughter a tool for a bright future through proper schooling. Her father earns a meager living by making and selling cardboard boxes while her mother remains at home to take care of Sathi and her newborn son. They live in a humble house near the school
Adopt-a-Family – Wrapping Party Wednesday Dec 8 – Please have your wrapped packages to Steve Grote by Wednesday, December 8th.
OR –
Attend Steve’s wrapping party from 5pm to 7pm. Bring your wrapping paper, tags, tape, a bottle of wine or a small snack to share. If your packages are already wrapped then drop them by and have a glass of wine. If you can’t make the party drop your wrapped gifts off at Steve’s house before the 8th so Steve can box and deliver to Shelter Inc.
Next Week Wednesday December 15 – Anniversary Party – Need RSVP’s not later than this Friday. About 60 signups so far.
Welcome Tita Escalada, Danville Rotary’s newest member – Tita lives here in Danville and is a Mortgage Consultant. She was formerly a member of San Pablo Rotary. She is assisting with fundraising for the Crab Feed.
Prospective members – Valerie Vicente and Evelyn Walker are both with Coldwell Banker here in Danville. They are currently members of Dougherty Valley Rotary.
